If you are suffering from GERD and not getting the relief you need, LINX surgery might be the procedure that can finally make the difference.
What Is GERD?
GERD stands for chronic gastroesophageal reflux disease.
This disease is typically treated in many ways including with use of proton pump inhibitors.
What Is LINX?
The LINX Reflux Management System is a minimally invasive surgical treatment for GERD.
During this procedure a tiny band of titanium beads are placed around the lower esophageal sphincter.
This tiny band is then able to control the opening of esophagus in order to allow food to pass through while preventing stomach fluids from refluxing in to the esophagus.
How Long Is the LINX procedure?
Due to the minimally invasive nature of this procedure you should only expect it to take an hour at the most.
In most cases, patients are even able to go home the following day and resume their normal diet.
How Effective Is LINX?
In a study of the LINX procedure, 90 percent of patients were found to have reported a marked improvement of their reflux symptoms.
Many of these patients were even able to discontinue their medication one year following their LINX treatment.
Please note however, that due to the magnetic nature of the LINX band, you may have to practice caution and consult your doctor before undergoing any MRI scans.
